Quality Assurance
Quality Assurance Department is mandated to set out the University’s mechanisms for assuring and enhancing quality of its academic provision through its core activities of teaching, learning and research and all related support services, taking account of the goals of the University Strategic Plan. Quality assurance is understood as a measure of the value of what we do and the system of benchmarking which we use to ensure academic business (teaching and learning and community service) is of the expected standard and is maintained and continuously improved.
The Quality Assurance Department was established for the purpose of systematic monitoring and evaluation and ensuring that mechanisms in place are functional to ensure the standards are functional to ensure that standards are met.
The Department’s mission is to establish systems that ensure consistency, compliance and continuous improvement aiming to deliver high quality, reliable outputs while reducing risks and meeting stakeholder expectations.
The core values include customer centricity, proactive defect prevention, consistency, continuous improvement and objectivity. To this and the Department:
- provides leadership for quality assurance and good practice in the university
- monitor implementation of quality assurance policies in the University
- monitors achievement of the set benchmarks to provide feedback to faculties
- ensure that programmes comply with ZIMCHE guidelines
- Consult regularly with stakeholders
- analyses student evaluation data and generates reports for both quality and management purposes.
